After a long bus ride, leaving around 8:15 am on Saturday, we arrived at MBC around 6:30 am this morning, tired, but satisfied in what we accomplished. We will post more after we've been able to rest.

Lots going on

Big group for VBS and sports camp. Elizabeth held a computer class with not able to speak English . More progress on the house with a team of two sheet rockers. Ask Brian to tell how they did or wait or the video of him telling how. Sang Happy Birthday to Rebecca Dawson at supper. Cake and ice cream provided to all by mom & dad. Said goodbye to David our bus driver and his replacement arrived. We pray he arrives safely to be with his wife ho is hospitalized .

Last day for activities and block party for tomorrow .

Flexible,flexible, flexible

As with any mission trip, one must be flexible. Plans change, expectations not met, the unexpected happens . This strengthens our dependence on God. Pray for our VBS team, the sports camp, the adult ministries which has done sewing and now will do computer skills, and our construction team who are working to complete their goal of finishing the house enough to be lived in.

Especially keep in prayer our bus driver who's wife is in the hospital with meningitis . A substitute driver is on the way so he can make his way to be with his wife.

Ready

The full team met up for lunch. We met Diego our mission coordinator for Buckner. Saw the progress being made on the house. Groups made plans. We had a devotional time. The interns described what they had been doing. Noes the time for rest and we are ready . Tomorrow will be a great day.

Tomorrow afternoon the 27 additional team members will load the bus and head south to join those who have gone before us.  We are all excited to see how God will work in the lives of those we minister to as well as our lives this next week.  Please pray for us to have safety in travel, health for the team members, and patience with each other as we serve in the Valley this week.

Today the advance team will be arriving. The Gaines and Reeds are already there. The rest will leave Saturday afternoon from the church on a chartered bus and arrive in Sunday afternoon. We will soon be putting our plans to action, with the knowledge that plans change. Our flexibility will be put to the test.

Advanced Team

And advanced team of the Gaines, the Reeds (Sara Gaines' parents), Brent Hagar, Larry Wayland, and Eric Ellis will arrive in the Valley on Thursday to get a head start on building the house.  Pray for safe travels, reasonable weather, strength and good health as they start.  Thanks guys!

We've Only Just Begun......

Thanks for joining us on our adventure.  We hope to have various members of our team to put blog entries here.  This mission trip is a big endeavor.  We leave Saturday, although we will have an advance team there a few days early to begin work on the house.  Without them, we will not be able to have it built by next Thursday.  More on that later.  Please pray for our teams:  house building, VBS, sports camp, and adult ministries.
